Like most of the viewing nation, I was tuned in to the Dallas Cowboys vs the Philadelphia Eagles game during Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys turned in a stellar performance, defeating the hated and feared Philly team by a score of 37-10. During the press conference following the game, quarterback Dak Prescott addressed the question of the energy in the locker room heading into the important divisional rivalry.
“We have the right men in that locker room, guys that double down on themselves, who believe in the man working next to them, and go out there and just perform like they need to perform when called on,” Prescott said.
I found it interesting when he said, guys who “double down on themselves.” In other words, I know who I am, I’m the best at what I do, so I’m going to go out and do what I do best.
I love that! It reminded me of visiting Phoenix Construction job sites where men are working together, whether it be concrete, steel, electrical or finish out. Each has a job to do and dedicates themselves to seeing that job through from start to finish. From dirt to completion, the goal is the same: Believe in the man working next to you and go out and perform like you need to do when called upon. At Phoenix, it’s so much more than just a job: It’s a passion and a commitment to excellence.
Hopefully the Dallas Cowboys will commit to running the table the rest of the season. One thing for certain, if they play like they played Sunday night, the chances are good!
