We’re not exactly an Amish barn raising team. It’s a colorful crowd at Phoenix Construction, but you’ll love us, and you’ll love working with us. From our Founder and Chairman, right down to the Phoenix crews, we are a tight-knit team. A little weird…just like any other family. But we love what we do and love doing what we do with each other, and it shows in the work we deliver to our clients.

Kaleb Brewer founded Phoenix Construction in 2012 after seeing the quality of work in South Texas and knowing it not only could, but should be improved upon. By bringing a completely different attitude and business model to the construction industry, he has grown Phoenix Construction into a company that has doubled their profit every year.

With 15 years of development experience and 7 years leading construction teams, Kaleb has created a company culture that starts and ends with his personal life motto, best summarized by Winston Churchill: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

By creating a team that loves what they do and doing it the right way, he wants his customers to be as confident in what they receive as he is with the job he knows he is about to do. Outside of his family, Phoenix Construction makes him “more proud of than than anything he’s ever done in his entire life.”

KENT JOHNSON
Chief Operations Officer

Kent, our COO, provides the leadership, management and vision to ensure that Phoenix Construction has proper operational controls. His expertise was formed by 24 years of construction, building management, and budgeting experience. Kent’s affiliations include Trinity Bible Church and the Weatherford High School Booster Club. Kent likes spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys experiencing the great outdoors through his favorite pastimes, hunting and fishing.

LEE DAUGHERTY
Senior VP of Operations

Lee is Phoenix Construction’s Senior VP of Operations. He is a professional multi-tasker involved with building planning, design, and budgeting, along with property development. Lee brings over 30 years of construction industry experience where he has spent the last 8 years focused exclusively on the commercial/industrial side of construction and development.  He maintains an IBC Class “A” National Contractor’s License. Lee’s interests include fishing, and horses.

SCOTT VOLLMAR
Vice President/Project Coordinator

Scott manages the day-to-day activities in the office including everything from answering phones and filing to dealing with insurance issues, lien waivers, job cost and financial reporting. With the exception of a four-year stint in the Navy, Scott has always been involved in construction. He grew up working for his dad, building homes in the Fredericksburg area. He eventually moved into office and safety management for a commercial construction company in San Antonio. His work took him to South Carolina and Kansas, where he provided quality control and safety management. Scott also worked in Austin, providing office and equipment management services for a large Dallas based firm. Desiring to raise their daughter in a smaller community, Scott and his family returned to Fredericksburg where he worked for a custom home builder before joining the Phoenix Construction team. Scott’s education includes 90 hours of coursework, including accounting and safety engineering. Reading and working in the yard are among Scott’s favorite pastimes.

JUDY KRING
Director of Marketing

As Director of Marketing, Judy is in charge of formulating, implementing and coordinating all marketing activities to promote the Phoenix Construction name and brand. With over 25 years experience in sales, marketing, customer service and accounting, she brings invaluable expertise to the Phoenix mission and vision. Judy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Tarleton State University. She is affiliated with the Willow Park Baptist Church, the Women’s Business Alliance, and many area Chamber of Commerce groups including Weatherford and East Parker. In her free time, Judy loves to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys traveling, the outdoors, and fitness.

Quilene Johnson
QUILENE JOHNSON
Director of Human Resources

As Director of Human Resources, Quilene comes to Phoenix Construction with over 20 years of professional experience in both Sales and Human Resources. Quilene raised four children and has been blessed with two grandchildren. While raising her children, she served on many Weatherford ISD boards and booster clubs. When not working, along with her new love of cruising, you can find Quilene and her husband enjoying football games, hunting, and participating in many other outdoor activities. She is also a member of the Church of Christ.

JOEL HARWELL
Director of Safety

As Director of Safety, Joel is responsible for keeping Phoenix Construction in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as it applies to safety.  But, more importantly, Joel is the driving force behind the program tasked with keeping safe our most valuable asset — OUR PEOPLE! Joel is passionate about people so don’t expect Phoenix Construction to simply conform to the required safety standard. Expect us to set the standard for employee safety. Joel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University, and has more than 31 years of manufacturing safety experience. He’s held positions as Plant Maintenance Supervisor, Project Engineer, Plant Engineer, and Quality Assurance & Environmental Compliance Supervisor. Joel is active in Stonewater Church of Granbury, and is an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman. He also enjoys working on his farm near Morgan Mill, and is a major Aggies Athletics fan.

MIKE STEVENS
Director of Field Services

As Director of Phoenix Construction Services, Mike directs and oversees the entire Phoenix Construction Services group. Mike has experience in education as a teacher and coach. He has also owned a fencing business and has recent experience in property management. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Mike enjoys spending time with his two daughters who attend UT. He also likes outdoor activities including fishing, kayaking, and camping.

Director of Land Development
PHILIP NEWKIRK
Director of Land Development

As Director of Land Development, Philip comes to Phoenix Construction with over 15 years in the land surveying industry, and with the last decade serving as Manager of Operations for Texas Surveying. His portfolio consists of more than 10,000 projects in the field and office, ranging from residential sites to commercial/industrial developments across Texas. He has been a part of the process from feasibility and initial land acquisition, platting, topographic mapping, engineering support, construction layout, up to final as-built. Philip loves the Lord and is an active member of Victory Baptist Church. He enjoys spending time on his farm with his family where they raise Registered Texas Longhorns. Philip also enjoys hunting.

DAVID FARMER
Project Manager

As Project Manager, David oversees the flow of construction to ensure timely execution, which is one of Phoenix Construction’s most important hallmarks. He also manages our project bidding, and field information reporting. David’s previous experience includes working in the West Texas oil fields prior to spending many years as an estimator for a commercial  contractor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from East Central University. David enjoys spending time with his family, along with playing golf and hunting.

JEFF HUDSON
Project Manager

As Project Manager, Jeff brings over 25 years of experience in single-family, multi-family, restaurant, and commercial construction management. He has also managed several residential and commercial properties during his career. Most recently, Jeff oversaw construction on several Rosa’s Cafés throughout the great state of Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Angelo State University. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching sports, fishing, camping and fixing things. He is always up for a challenge. You’ll probably see Jeff and his wife Suzy around Weatherford or Fort Worth supporting their son, Peyton and daughter, Paige’s in their extracurricular pursuits. Jeff is very active at North Side Baptist Church and in various Weatherford High School Booster Clubs.

ALLEN BODOVSKY
Chief Architectural Associate

As the Architectural Associate and Lead Designer of Phoenix, Allen oversees all designs and drawings with state-of-the-art BIM software and up to date code analysis procedures. His experience includes 6 years of designing and drafting for firms throughout East Texas and 3 years of individual projects he’s taken up on his own. There’s no doubt that Allen has a love for his craft. Allen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Architectural Studies and Master’s in Architecture from Louisiana Tech University. In his free time, he loves to spend time with his family and explore new ideas in the world of architecture. Not to mention, he’s a musician too.

TIM CARDER
Draftsman

With previous experience in Civil Drafting, Tim is extremely excited to work at Phoenix Construction as an Architecture Drafter. Tim works directly with the Lead Designer and Architectural Associate to design and draw high quality commercial and industrial buildings with state-of-the-art BIM software. While not working, he loves to spend time with his family, playing the violin, and being an active member of St. Mary's Church.

TERRY LEE
Estimator/Business Development
As VP of Business Development, Terry comes to Phoenix with a wealth of knowledge, expertise and leadership in the construction industry to generate opportunities of growth by bringing in new clients for development and construction.  Terry has spent the past 40 years working on many types of diversified projects including automobile dealerships, big box stores, retail stores, restaurants, hospitality and entertainment venues, data centers and multifamily buildings.  He also brings 15 years of experience in the land development market.  His goal is to help Phoenix be the best in the industry and be a part of the team as we grow leaps and bounds with no end in sight.  Terry’s hobbies are playing golf and fishing.

MELISSA BROWN
Accounting II

Melissa joined the Phoenix team in 2017 as an Administrative Assistant and took over the Accounting II position in 2020. Prior to Phoenix, she was the office manager for a site work/excavation company in South Texas. Melissa is the Medina County 4H Horse Club Manager, and is involved with both the local 4H and FFA livestock programs. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking and camping with her family, and raising Boer goats.

CARRIE WILEY
Administrative Coordinator

As Administrative Coordinator, Carrie is responsible for managing and coordinating the daily activities of the Business Development and Operations offices. Carrie has gained many years of customer service experience through her diverse background. She was a receptionist at Weatherford Christian School, a member of the sales team at Lane Bryant, and an equipment-leasing agent for an oil and gas trucking company. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, working in her yard, and volunteering with her church, Greenwood Baptist.

BARRET KRING
Construction Superintendent

As Construction Superintendent, Barret oversees jobsite scheduling and maintenance, and manages the day-to-day jobsite operations.Prior to joining Phoenix Construction, he was a firefighter/EMT-B for the Ranger and Willow Park Fire Departments. Barret’s educational achievements include TCFP Basic Firefighter Certification, NREMT-B Certification, DSHS EMT Certification, ACSM Certifi ed Personal Trainer, and OSHA 30 Training. In his spare time, Barret enjoys the company of his wife, two children, extended family and friends. He enjoys going to the gym, and to church. His favorite outdoor pastimes include hunting, fishing and camping.

KONRAD KREIPE
Construction Superintendent

As Construction Superintendent, Konrad oversees jobsite scheduling and maintenance, and manages the day-to day-jobsite operations. Konrad brings 11 years of commercial construction, energy management system, and building automation experience to the Phoenix team. His interests include spending time with his wife and three children, along with enjoying the great outdoors and action sports. He is also involved with the Knights of Columbus.

“I truly enjoy working for Phoenix Construction for a number of reasons: working with family, the great work ethic, and the professionalism. We set the standards high in building these metal buildings. Competitors can’t do what we do…and that’s a great feeling!”

JIM LEWIS
Construction Superintendent

As Construction Superintendent, Jim is responsible for management of on-site materials, manpower, and equipment needed for completion of buildings. He comes to Phoenix with over 40 years in commercial, industrial, and residential construction. He holds an OSHA-10 certification, a Massachusetts Construction Supervisors License, as well as a certificate in Architectural Drafting and Structural Steel Detailing. Also, Phoenix is proud to say that Jim is lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the National Rifle Association. In his leisure time, Jim enjoys spending time with family…including his 5 grandchildren, as well as fishing, hunting, and woodburning.

ULYSSES RODRIGUEZ
Construction Superintendent

As Construction Superintendent, Ulysses oversees jobsite scheduling and maintenance, and manages the day to day operations. Prior to joining our team, he spent 5 years as the Director of Operations and Supply Chain at Perennials, Inc., a high-end outdoor textile company. He brings additional management experience from his 8-year tenure at BMC as their Operations Manager, where he managed over 100 employees. Just out of high school, Ulysses was drafted by the Monterrey Tigres, a professional Mexican soccer team. He spent 3 years as a pro footballer before returning to Texas to begin his career in the building industry. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his kids, playing soccer and disc golf, and hiking. He and his wife also enjoy traveling and trying new foods.

TIM HOCK
Construction Superintendent

As Construction Superintendent, Tim assists in managing the day-to-day jobsite operations, maintenance and scheduling. He comes to Phoenix with years of construction industry related experience. His experience includes positions in contract inspections, road construction and maintenance, residential and commercial security installations and equipment operator. He has safety certifications with TXDOT, and holds a chemical handling license. Tim is a member of the Saint Paul Lutheran Church and is an active member of the Weatherford High School Cheer Booster Club. In his spare time, Tim enjoys raising cattle, riding his motorcycle, and restoring his classic Camaro.
